Turning My Running Over to AI- The Runna App

I have been struggling with consistency over the last few years. I have the knowledge, the ability and the experience to build a training program but I can’t seem to keep everything rolling in the right direction. Do I still enjoy racing? Is this the reason I only plan to race, without actually registering and staying dedicated? This year I decided to make a change…..

First change is to set a goal and register for the race. Instead of thinking about running a marathon on the spring and waiting to see how my training went, I took the plunge and signed up. In May 2025, I will be running in the Toronto Marathon. By paying the registration fee, I have avoided the waffling that might gone on as I “think” about running the distance and gave me a goal to strive for. Now the question, how will I get there?

I have a ton of pre-made marathon plans available to me and a couple of custom ones that I have built over the years. All of these plans are good and could guide me to success, but the ability to stay on track using them has been my weakness.

That’s where the Runna App comes in. I do not have to plan, think or prepare for any of the daily workouts. All I have to do is check my phone to see what I have scheduled. I don’t do it with blind faith. I examine each workout, its purpose and how I can fit it into each day. For the most part though, I have been in agreement with each days proposed workout and have done my best to complete them and enjoy the experience. My marathon plan is twenty-one weeks long, but won’t start until mid December, so what to do in the meantime?

There is a 10k that I’ve always tried to do in early December, called the Black Toe 10k. What better way to experiment with the Runna App, build a base before my marathon training and enjoy a race that I have always tried to squeeze into my schedule? A couple of clicks of the mouse later, I’ve paid my entry fee and begin my seven week build towards the 10k. Follow along as I give some updates on my hours to training consistently under the guidance of the Runna App.
